In this Gospel passage from St. Luke, ten lepers are healed of their disease, but only one returns to thank Jesus; a sign that he was healed both physically and spiritually.
The challenge to us hearing the story is that in all circumstances, we are to give thanks; whether cured or not; whether fed or hungry; whether rich or poor.
Fr. Michael reminds us too of the challenge from St. Ignatius: To pray daily that we might become aware of the gifts that God has given us. With this awareness of God’s abundant blessings, we will always have something more to be grateful for.
