This Sunday is the feast of the Most Holy Trinity. This homily includes a reading from Acts and from the Gospel of John.
This Gospel shares Jesus prayer for His disciples. He asks God the Father to bless them to be one in Spirit with the Father and the Son. Jesus says in this prayer that His disciples are His gift from God.
Fr. Michael shares the hardship of saying goodbye. Jesus in this Gospel was preparing His farewell right before the Crucifixion, and Paul was saying goodbye to his followers in Ephesus. Both Jesus and Paul loved their ‘brothers’ deeply.
In addition, Jesus was not only praying for His disciples, He was praying to God the Father for all of us as well. This Gospel lets us listen in on this prayer as Jesus begs God the Father for unity for all of us in the Church.
